The DCU could have multiple Justice Leagues.
Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT The new DC Universe's upcoming horror movie, Swamp Thing, can finally see a different Justice League come to live-action, the Justice League Dark. James Gunn and Peter Safran have announced the first few projects that will make up the DC Universe's Chapter One: Gods and Monsters. That latter part of the chapter's title has already spawned an exciting movie for the new DC Universe: Swamp Thing.
Swamp Thing will be written by James Mangold, with the Logan director also assuming directing duties for the horror film. Recently, the character led his own TV series, which sadly went through production issues. 13 episodes of Swamp Thing were initially commissioned, but due to creative differences, the show ended up cutting down its episode count to 10 and halting production. A week after Swamp Thing premiered, the show was canceled.
Why A Justice League Dark Movie Hasn't Happened Yet The Justice League Dark is a version of DC's most famous superhero team that deals with mystic and supernatural threats. The team has endless potential for a live-action adaptation, but sadly, even though there have been multiple attempts to bring the Justice League Dark to live-action over the years, the team has only appeared in comics and animation so far.
How Swamp Thing Can Set Up DC Universe's Justice League Dark Swamp Thing is the perfect setup for the Justice League Dark. Gunn has shown in his previous superhero work that he likes to use impactful characters that are not usually among Marvel and DC's most popular. That is where the Justice League Dark comes in, with the team having many characters with exciting powers and tragic backstories, such as Swamp Thing.
DC could introduce one or two members of the Justice League Dark as cameos in Swamp Thing, setting the stage for the team's later debut, which could be a way for the new DC Universe to have a Justice League that feels fresh after the team's 2017 DCEU movie fell short of expectations. This way, the Justice League Dark can set the stage for the main Justice League's future debut.
