Embrace Naperville’s third roundtable discussion Wednesday will focus on how high school and college students can help build an inclusive community.
The panel discussion will include a diverse group of teenagers and young adults. Afterwards, community members will participate in breakout sessions centered on their personal stories and experiences and those discussions will later be shared with the group, said Geneace Williams, the city of Naperville’s diversity, equity and inclusion manager. The discussion, “The Power of a Generation: Community Coming Together,” will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct.
According to the 2020 census and the 2022 American Community Survey, the demographic breakdown of Naperville’s nearly 150,000 population is about 65.1% white, 20.6% Asian, 6.5% Hispanic or Latino, 5.1% of two or more races and 4.3% Black. The third roundtable will help “elevate the voice of young people,” Williams said. “We are living in a world where young people want to be heard, want to be involved and want to be valued,” she said.
