“Being able to share that we were able to successfully find a home, and get our life together with the help from the shelter, I think people need to hear about that and not just the stereotype of the shelter,” she said. They came to Saskatoon in November 2021, and tried to stay at The Lighthouse, where they had to live apart from each other.Houle and Matechuck were able to stay together and share a room there, which was important during her pregnancy with George. A prenatal outreach worker helped them navigate the social services system. They were also linked to addiction supports.Article content
