Wonder Woman is clearly a synth-pop fan.
The preview -- which dropped on Sunday -- for the follow-up to DC's 2017 blockbuster features Gal Gadot as Diana Prince, a.k.a. Wonder Woman, the lasso-wielding super heroine and member of the Justice League. Chris Pine returns as Diana's love interest, Steve, and the two fully lean into the '80s vibe with wardrobe choices and perfectly blown-dry hairstyles that reflect the times.
Another aesthetic that gels with the period -- but not the year in which the film is set, technically -- is the new interpretation of an '80s hit: the trailer riffs on New Order's "Blue Monday," the synth-pop anthem released by the English trio in 1983. That bass line and those moody chord progressions are instantly recognizable, and they offer an edgy foil to Diana's next attempt at saving the world.
