In the event of a war, the UK's armed forces are expected to call up recent service leavers, known as strategic reserves, to fill vital positions in the country's defences. But the Ministry of Defence isn't maintaining the contact details of those who could be called up, according to a military analyst. Former British army veteran Robert Clark, who is now a defence policy expert, has been responding to Sky News' series looking at how prepared the nation is for conflict or war.
'Having spoken quite recently to several former colleagues and friends who left the armed forces, not a single one of them has had the Ministry of Defence getting in touch with them to confirm their contact details are still correct and up to date.' Host Tom Cheshire also spoke to our security and defence editor Deborah Haynes, who has seen documents outlining the UK's lack of preparedness for nuclear war.
