The Spurs had given up every inch of a 16-point lead Wednesday and were in danger of losing to an Oklahoma City team already calculating its draft lottery odds.Walker’s clutch 3-pointer with 1.3 seconds left lifted the Spurs to a 122-120 victory over the floundering Thunder at the AT&T Center.
In the final minute and a half, with the game within one point either direction, Murray dribbled a ball of his shoe, OKC’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander returned the favor with a turnover and Johnson hit the deck after flying high for a missed contested dunk and remained down for the duration of a scoreless possession for both teams.
In the end, the Spurs pulled out the victory, which kept them on the cusp of a berth in the Western Conference play-in tournament. After the game, Spurs coach Gregg Popovich was adamant his team had been outplayed by the undermanned Thunder, despite the final score. He has hit double figures in nine of those 10 contests, and surpassed 20 points in seven of them. Wednesday marked his third consecutive 20-point outing.
