A brick-laden space next to the South Street Seaport, 275 Water Street was transformed last week into a tiny, haute version of an aughts-era Abercrombie & Fitch mall boutique, decorated with oars and lacrosse sticks and filled with good old vintage garments from the brand.
, a trove that he has collected since his high school days in the early ’00s. “We wanted to highlight pieces that we stand really firmly behind in the archive,” he said. “We thought of what the strongest pieces were and sort of made this feel like a collection.”Allen’s curation is a collegiate-slacker wet dream of cargos, flannels, and board shorts. The stylist was able to get pieces from the heyday of mall brands, before their quality tanked in the late ’00s.
