While Scots are shorter than people from other parts of the UK on average, one Scottish man who lived almost 200 years ago reached an incredible height that has never seen since.
Scottish people tend to be the shortest out of anywhere in the UK, with an average height of 5 feet 8 inches for men and 5 feet 4 inches for women.
Born on the island of Berneray in the Sound of Harris in the strength, Angus was the fourth of ten children — all born to parents of average stature. Interestingly, Angus is reported to have been so small at birth that he was not predicted to survive. As with all stories based in fact, over time the tales of Angus and his strength became more implausible — to the point where today it is hard to know what was actually true.
