Steve Jobs wanted to come out ahead of one iconic company
Tech giant Apple is a household name, and almost everyone will have likely owned or used their products at least once.
Steve Jobs himself explained why he opted for the name in a 1981 press conference, saying: "I love apples and like to eat them. But the main idea behind Apple is bringing simplicity to the public, in the most sophisticated way, and that's it, nothing else." Jobs also added that he wanted to steer clear of the "boring" names popular in tech such as "Executek" and "Personal Computers Inc".
