There are only a couple of supplements worth taking. Everything else, experts recommend, should come from your diet

Given the fact that supplements are not cheap, it all begs the question – which supplements are actually worth the money? , much discussed currently, draw a clear line between supplementary magnesium and dietary magnesium. When you eat foods rich in magnesium, you will benefit from improved energy, sleep and muscle function. But when magnesium is taken as a supplement?

The supplement industry is fairly unregulated, and often, you don’t know what you’re really getting. Some people take a multivitamin tablet as a kind of “insurance”, but you don’t need to buy the fancy, expensive types. Just a standard multivitamin tablet will do the job and can be helpful for certain groups such as older adults.. Again, these aren’t worth the money, as they’re not backed by scientific evidence and have a huge added cost attached to them in what is referred to “menowashing”.

I take D3 as that is the nutrient the body naturally produces when exposed to sunlight. This is an essential nutrient used for building and maintaining healthy bones and muscles and preventing conditions such as rickets and osteoporosis. It’s also vital for our immune resilience and supporting good gut health

There is no point taking any probiotic off the shelf as they are all different. Similarly, taking a probiotic to improve “overall” gut health is a waste of your money, as the science doesn’t support that – they are indication specific – like medications. For overall gut health, adding in a more diverse range of plants is a science-backed way to achieve that.A few years ago I started experiencing fatigue in the afternoons. Since taking a NAD+ supplement, this has gone away.
