The mandate of the Saskatchewan Perennial Society is to share knowledge through information meetings, plant exchanges and garden tours.
In 1989, a group of enthusiastic gardeners got together to talk about their gardens. Many were interested in perennials and loved to share their knowledge as well as their plants. Soon they were visiting each others’ gardens for inspiration and enjoyment. Later that year, they formalized things at a meeting held at the Forestry Farm Park in Saskatoon and became the Saskatchewan Perennial Society. We deliver the local news you need in these turbulent times on weekdays at 3 p.m.
In 2007, we undertook a new venture, providing a free column for the Sun, a weekly paper then associated with the Saskatoon StarPhoenix. Our column is also distributed free of charge to other weekly publications in Saskatchewan. The Sun has since evolved into Bridges. During those years the majority of articles were written by the co-ordinators who, between writing great articles, had the task of coaxing articles from their friends and cohorts in the horticultural arena and editing them before publication.Article content
Over the years, the cast of characters writing this column has changed, but the core group since 2009 has consisted of Williams ; Svendsen ; and, Jackie Bantle .Article content
