Serial killer Angel Maturino Resendiz is escorted into a Harris County Courtroom by for a hearing on July 14, 1999, in Houston. Since his arrest the man known as the"Railroad Killer" has given authorities crucial details that have helped close four murder cases in three states, including one in which another man had been charged.
According to officials, Reséndiz would linger in the homes and usually eat. . He would also often take sentimental items and lay them out with the victims’ driver’s licenses to learn about their lives. However, the convicted murderer's killing spree began five years earlier. In 2001, he confessed to killing a Bexar County homeless couple in 1986 and dumping their bodies in the San Antonio area. The couple have never been identified.he killed the woman for disrespecting him. Her body was found on March 23, 1986, with four gunshot wounds in an abandoned farmhouse in Bexar County.
In 1998, he beat to death 97-year-old Leafie Mason in Huges Springs, Texas. Later that year, he killed Houston doctor, Dr. Claudia Benton, who was sexually assaulted and beaten to death.San Antonio Express-News archives
