Vertical Entertainment has released The Pod Generation trailer for its sci-fi romantic comedy, starring Emilia Clarke and Chiwetel Ejiofor.
The video highlights a near-distant future where couples can become parents through a convenient and shareable pregnancy by way of detachable, artificial wombs, or pods. The film is slated to arrive in theaters on August 11.The Pod Generation is written and directed by Sophie Barthes. Joining Clarke and Ejiofor are Rosalie Craig , Vinette Robinson , Kathryn Hunter and Jean-Marc Barr .
“Set in the very near future world where AI is all the rage and technology has trumped nature in nearly every aspect of life,” reads the synopsis. “The film follows Rachel and Alvy , a New York couple who are ready to start a family. As a rising tech company executive, Rachel lands a coveted spot at the Womb Center, which offers couples the opportunity to share pregnancy on a more equal footing by way of mobile, artificial wombs, or pods.
