Placing technicality at the service of beauty is Piaget’s distinction in the worlds of high jewelry and watchmaking
. It’s something that the new leadership of the Swiss luxury brand has placed a renewed emphasis on and its latest timepiece, Altiplano Moonphase, represents this.
This new watch combines its technical skill in making ultra-thin movements with its artistic and craft skills that are equally important to the brand. Piaget began building ultra-thin watch movements in the 1960s with stone dials that combined creativity, craft and elegance. In 1998, the creation of the Altiplano watch was the ultimate step in this endeavor of achieving thinness. Not long after the luxury brand began building Antiplano watches that were setting records for its thin exteriors.
Each of the four 36mm timepieces contain dials with intricate artistic details that are the result of two years of development. The upper half of each watch features a Chinese constellation represented by small white dots and precious stones delicately outlined on a translucent blue enamel sky created by master enameller Anita Porchet.
