The small primary school has the worst truancy rate in the county
New data has revealed that students are skiving at a North West school once every seven days on average. The primary school near Ormskirk which had an unauthorised absence rate of 14.7 per cent last year has suffered the highest level of truancy in the county.
The data released by the Department for Education, reported by LancsLive, reveals that South Shore Academy in Blackpool had the next highest rate, with 12.1 per cent of sessions missed. That’s followed by Blackpool Aspire Academy , Highfield Leadership Academy , The Valley Leadership Academy , and Darwen Vale High School .
That works out as 20.8 per cent of pupils in Lancashire. A student is classed as persistently absent if they miss 10 per cent of sessions or more in an academic year.
