An African grey parrot is learning how to paint at the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore.
how Echo—who is of the African grey parrot species—is being trained how to take brush to paper by the zoo’s Embassy care team in order to create original works of art.The zoo posted a video of the bird at work“Our Embassy care team is training African grey parrot Echo to paint,” reads the zoo’s tweet. “Painting is a great enrichment activity that keeps Echo mentally stimulated and allows her to use her natural adaptations.
Indeed, Echo can be seen using a sponge to dot brown paper with various colors. Whether she’s drawing inspiration from her surroundings or reflecting something that’s on her mind remains unclear.
