What Davidson does that is remarkable in 'The King of Staten Island' is show his range as a performer while also letting us in a little bit more on who he really is.
“Staten Island,” of course, is filled with gags and cracks about antidepressants, masturbation, “The Purge” and even his late father, whose death date Scott has inked on his arm. Regularly hanging and smoking weed with his ne’er-do-well friends, Scott has pie-in-the-sky dreams of starting a"tattoo restaurant.
“You deserve somebody way better than me,” Scott says in another scene with his on-again, off-again girlfriend Kelsey . “There’s something wrong with me mentally. I’m not all right up there.” Her response: “I just feel bad you don’t think you’re great.” The most remarkable scenes are the ones where he’s the oldest guy around. Scott’s journey of growing up and coming to grips with the loss of his father involves Ray , the abrasive fireman his mom starts dating, who makes Scott pick up his two young kids at his ex-wife’s house and walk them to school.

Hollywood Spent Years Wooing The King Of Bollywood. It Took Amazon To Land Him.I cover the intersection of Hollywood and money—that's everything from media moguls to the highest-paid actors to YouTube stars. When my reporting isn't taking me to Hollywood restaurants and Atlanta's movie lots, I'm writing about the world's richest, including billionaires and self-made women entrepreneurs. Prior to Forbes, I wrote about media, food and education for the New York Observer, and about the New York shopping scene for Racked. Follow me on Twitter MadelinePBerg. Have tips?
