The DC Universe is home to a number of amazing heroes with some truly original backstories, but one origin may stand far above the rest. Superman reveals the unique and ultimately tragic background of the nigh-immortal shape-shifter, Metamorpho.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Superman tells Jimmy the tragic origin of Metamorpho and how he was once an adventurer who fell in love with Sapphire Stagg, the daughter of Simon. Feeling that Rex was beneath his daughter, Simon arranged for Rex to be murdered. However, Rex came into contact with a meteor that horribly and painfully transformed him. Though Rex wished to die, Superman reveals that Rex's body was incapable of harming himself.
But Metamorpho's origin is layer upon layer of unfortunate events. Not only was Rex sentenced to death by Simon Stagg because he committed the 'crime' of falling in love, Mason was put through one of the most painful transformations possible as his body was broken down to its most basic elements. Not only that, Rex couldn't even go on living with what happened to himself, but his powers prevented him from dying.
