Significantly cheaper than most Michelin-starred establishments
The phrase 'Michelin-Starred restaurant' may automatically put some people off, due to their assumption that the cost of their meal might require them to re-mortgage their house. And they wouldn't be entirely wrong, because some restaurants, especially those with multiple stars and tasting menus, are eye-wateringly expensive.
So-Lo, based in a former pub in Aughton, is the county's latest venue to be awarded a coveted Michelin Star and the kitchen is headed up by highly-experienced chef Tim Allen. The most expensive menu is the six-course taster at £85, which may seem pricey at first glance.But compared to the tasting menu at double Michelin Star restaurant Moor Hall just down the road, it is a steal, with that priced from £225 per person.
As a result, the little village of Aughton near Ormskirk could be one of the cheapest places to enjoy a Michelin-Starred dinner in the UK. So-lo's website is dominated by colourful flowers and vegetables. It is a direct nod to chef Tim's passion for nature and the outdoors and desire to cook using the freshest produce and ingredients.
