Nick Castellos sure knows how to send social media abuzz.
Instead, Castellanos was actually showcasing his right ring finger to his teammates while standing on second base after lacing a double during the Phillies’ 4-1 win over the Marlins in Game 1 of their best-of-three wild-card series. He added about the significance of the ring gesture: “That’s why we’re here, man. Red October.”Castellanos had social media buzzing Tuesday night after his fourth-inning double that put two in scoring position with the Phillies ahead, 1-0.
“We were all like, ‘What is that?’ And he was like, ‘I have no clue. That’s the only thing that came out of my mind.”While that would be a funnier story, Castellanos’ explanation makes sense for a Phillies team looking to win it all after falling just short last year. Tuesday’s win featured ex-Met Zack Wheeler throwing 6 ⅔ innings of one-run ball, and Castellanos went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
