The Marvels will focus on the MCU's female heroes.
Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT One of Marvel Studios' Infinity Saga mistakes will finally be rectified in the MCU's upcoming The Marvels. After being introduced in 2019's Captain Marvel, Brie Larson is returning as the MCU's cosmic hero Carol Danvers in The Marvels, joined by Teyonah Parris and Iman Vellani, who are coming together as a new superhero team.
Marvel Comics' A-Force debuted as part of 2015's Secret Wars crossover event, bringing a multitude of female superheroes together in a new team, consisting of the likes of Captain Marvel, Jessica Jones, She-Hulk, and the Scarlet Witch, among many others. Marvel Studios attempted a similar idea during the final battle of Avengers: Endgame, but Endgame's A-Force moment felt weak, unearned, and inconsequential.
The Marvels' Team Dynamic Can Help Avoid Endgame's Female Avengers Scene Criticisms During a recent interview with Empire Magazine, The Marvels director Nia DaCosta revealed that she tried to "map an estranged family history and sister story" onto the trio of heroes in the upcoming MCU film.
How The MCU Has Already Begun Countering The Endgame Complaint Aside from bringing Captain Marvel, Photon, and Ms. Marvel together in The Marvels, Marvel Studios has also made more of an effort to develop the stories of its female heroes in the Multiverse Saga - something that was seriously lacking in the Infinity Saga. Scarlett Johansson finally got her first solo MCU project in Black Widow, even though this came after Natasha Romanoff's demise in Avengers: Endgame.
Also helping to fix Avengers: Endgame's A-Force complaints is the slew of new female heroes that have been introduced in the MCU's Multiverse Saga. Xu Xialing, Kate Bishop, Jennifer Walters' She-Hulk, Sersi, Sylvie, Layla El-Faouly's Scarlet Scarab, Cassie Lang, and Secret Invasion's Sonya Falsworth and G'iah have all made their mark on the MCU in recent years alongside Monica Rambeau and Kamala Khan.
