Yousef Makki’s sister says family have ‘justice’ after four years PLUS Mental health hospital ordered to make improvements

The relief on her face is palpable.

A previous inquest held in 2021 was quashed by the courts following a legal challenge by Yousef's family. Prior to that, Molnar was acquitted of murder and manslaughter during a criminal trial. "He was the most wonderful, intelligent, sporty and inspirational boy. He had his life stolen from him by Joshua Molnar, and nothing that happened today can, or does, change that awful reality which is now ours forever,” she said.

Yousef was a bright pupil at Manchester Grammar School from a humble background in Burnage. When asked if she believed class played a part in the outcome of the case, Jade said: “I do think it could have played out differently had the defendants been from normal council house backgrounds like Yousef was.”In his conclusion, Mr Williams ruled out Molnar's evidence that he stabbed Yousef in self-defence - saying he did not honestly believe Molnar was made to use force.

Hospital ordered to make improvements A mental health hospital where three women died within eight weeks has been ordered to make improvements. The wards inspected included those on which the three women - Beth Matthews, Lauren Bridges and Deseree Fitzpatrick - died in early 2022. The CQC visit was sparked by ‘information of concern about the service', the watchdog said.

As Paul Britton reports, a nine-year project to build four skyscrapers on the same plot of city centre land was first given the green light in February last year. The towers, ranging from 39 storeys in height to 60 storeys, are planned for two parcels of land on the banks of the River Irwell, known as Trinity Islands.

The Bromley Street development is within the Victoria Riverside part of the project. Once built, people living in the mix of two and three-bedroom properties planned in a 'unique' terrace street will have access to a residents’ lounge, dining and bar area, a gym and a fitness suite. The first release of 20 homes is now available for reservation.

From living on the streets to a place at Oxford Chloe Pomfret’s story is truly inspirational. She once walked the streets of Manchester as a homeless teenager, but said her life took a ‘surreal’ turn after being accepted into Oxford University.
