'The story of the Chinese-linked bio lab discovered operating illegally in California may even be worse than you think, especially when you consider China’s brazen activities on American soil and the country’s role in the COVID-19 pandemic.' -ZacharyFaria

For those unfamiliar with the story, officials in Reedley, California, discovered a bio lab operating without a license or permit. Inside the lab were nearly 1,000 mice bioengineered “to catch and carry the COVID-19 virus” and “at least 20 potentially infectious agents from chlamydia to hepatitis.”The lab was only discovered because an inspector noticed a garden hose hooked up to the warehouse.

The lab and samples belonged to Universal Meditech, a company that was taken over by Prestige Biotech, one of its creditors. According to NBC News, “Officials were unable to get any California-based address for either company except for the previous Fresno location from which UMI had been evicted.” According to court documents, the only addresses given to officials were empty offices or unverified Chinese addresses. Prestige Biotech is a Chinese medical company that is registered in Nevada.

But perhaps the biggest piece of this story that has gone under the radar is the company’s future plans. In March, Universal Meditech applied to occupy a warehouse and office space at 3900 N. Blattella Lane in Fresno, California. The company previously operated in Fresno, with a fire breaking out at the previous location, where “hazardous conditions were evident throughout the bio lab.”

Why is 3900 N. Blattella Lane notable? Because that would put the Chinese-linked bio lab and its infectious agents and bioengineered COVID mice right next to Fresno Yosemite International Airport, which is also home to the Fresno Air National Guard Base. This should be a national scandal or, at the very least, a national concern. We already know that China operates secret police stations across the world, including on U.S. soil.

The Chinese lab leak of COVID that started the pandemic should have been a red flag that Chinese biomedical operations have been incompetent at best and far more sinister at worst. The operations and attempted operations of this illegal bio lab in California should now be a blaring siren that the United States must wake up on this matter.
