At 9am on Thursday morning, a man in his car rolled up to the new Popeyes takeaway on Bury New Road in Salford to ask staff when they were set to open.

As a citizen of Manchester, and a citizen of the UK, I feel like I need to help people out when I can. Why not, innit?
Other winners of the year’s supply of free chicken sandwiches included a university student, who said the win will help him save money on lunches, and a group of young men who said they were ‘big’ fans of the Louisiana-style chicken.
