Allen Lazard and the Green Bay Packers defeated the Chicago Bears, 24-14, Sunday.
The Packers won their fifth straight game, improved to 5-1 and hold a two-game lead in the NFC North over Chicago and Minnesota .The Bears had pulled within 17-14 midway through the fourth quarter and had all of the momentum. That’s when Aaron Rodgers led a seven-play, 75-yard touchdown drive that gave Green Bay a 24-14 lead and largely iced the game.
“You’ve got to have that next-man-up mentality,” Packers coach Matt LaFleur said. “I think our guys do that and they take a lot of pride in what they do and they put the work in each and every week and our coaches are working hard to get everybody prepared, so it’s a pretty, it’s a great team effort by everybody.”The Bears trailed, 24-14, but reached the Packers’ 32 with just more than 3 minutes left.
Khalil Mack, Robert Quinn and Akiem Hicks all had sacks for Chicago against a Green Bay line that lost center Josh Myers early in the game and remains without preferred starting left tackle David Bakhtiari . “I really liked the way that he ran the football,” Bears coach Matt Nagy said of Herbert. “It was just like last week; when he makes the one cut and sticks that left or right foot in the ground he gets vertical … We need him right now.”Prior to Sunday, Opponents had entered the red zone 13 times this season against Green Bay’s defense. And on all 13 of those trips, Packers’ foes scored touchdowns.
