Joey Bart could be spending the spring working with SF Giants pitchers. Instead, he’ll eventually have a short period to get ready for a huge role.
No one would have benefitted from a normal spring training more than Bart, whose time in the Giants’ organization has included far more twists and turns than anyone would have liked.
A lockout means Bart can’t be in contact with manager Gabe Kapler, pitching coach Andrew Bailey or catching coach Craig Albernaz, so when an agreement is reached, count on the Giants having an incredibly thorough and exhaustive plan to get Bart up to speed as quickly as possible.Unlike Bart, who has major league experience under his belt and has at least spent a considerable amount of time with Kapler and his coaching staff, Ramos has yet to debut and still can’t partake in minor league camp.
