The £3.5m Central Bay development at Salford Quays houses a 20-kitchen food hall, a bar, waterside terrace and now five shipping container kitchens
Last month, a new waterfront food and drink destination with a host of exciting food traders opened at Salford Quays. Part of a wider £3.5 million transformation of the waterfront stretch at Quayside MediaCity, Central Bay is one of the biggest operations of its kind - not only in Greater Manchester, but the North of England.
The five new kitchens were discovered via Kargo MKT’s Future Food Stars programme, which aims to provide a launchpad for emerging food vendors to build their businesses. As part of the initiative, the businesses will also receive mentoring on how to establish good business practices and operating systems, as well as coaching on how to develop, build, and market their brand.
Matt Bigland, founder and CEO at Blend Family which operates Kargo MKT, said: “We have two great passions when it comes to food – curating exciting culinary experiences from across the world, and providing new opportunities for fledgling businesses to show the world what they can do. We’re immensely proud to see the doors open for our five Future Food Stars and look forward to seeing them thrive over the coming months.
