The first-ever Foxbody Mustang is for sale.
This '79 Mustang hatch was the very first Foxbody to leave Ford's San Jose plant, and all plants country-wide. The automaker confirmed tothat only two examples—both pace cars—were built at the plant on the first day of production, and this was #1, according to the VIN.
Unsurprisingly, there's an interesting story behind this Foxbody. According to the seller, the car was kept by Ford for promotional purposes, including commercials, before shipping it to various dealerships across the country for demonstrations. The very last dealership on the tour, located in Oregon, was instructed to keep the car and sell it. The current seller's mother bought it, which is how the car ended up here.
Thankfully, this Mustang's been taken care of. The seller says it's been kept in storage its entire life, with just 33,118 miles on the clock. Judging by the pictures it looks to be in excellent condition, especially when you compare it to the average Foxbody for sale on Facebook. The seller is asking $35,000 for a chance to own this legendary 'Stang. Not too bad considering the provenance behind this particular car and its condition.
