FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Resolution number 5079 introduced by Fairbanks Mayor Pruhs and the Fairbanks City Council members passed with flying colors during the regularly scheduled city council meeting on Monday, Aug. 14.
This resolution aims to honor Sergeant Allen Brandt by renaming the Fairbanks Police Station to “The Sergeant Allen Brandt Police Station and Emergency Communications Center.” Fairbanks Police Sergeant Brandt was shot several times in 2016 after responding to a shots-fired call in Fairbanks. While there was great hope he would recover, he succumbed to complications from his injuries and passed away that same year. The unveiling of the new station name will take place October 16 in memory of the day he was shot.“I started working with Sergeant Brandt when I was hired with the department. He was brand new as well.
