is based on the bestselling novel of the same name by CJ Tudor which was itself inspired by real-life events.We follow Jack, an unconventional vicar who has relocated to Chapel Croft, a close-knit Sussex village, with her teenage daughter Flo.
Jack hopes to put the past behind her as she establishes herself in the new community, but the villagers have a robust distrust of outsiders. She soon realises Chapel Croft is a community full of superstition, harbouring secrets of a very unhappy past. More chilling still, is the spectre of two young girls burned at the stake in the 16th century and who are said to haunt the chapel.Jack starts to dig around and discovers several people have vanished from the village never to be seen again. She is determined to find out what happened.Although the drama is set in Sussex, it was actually filmed in Buckinghamshire, in south east England.Other scenes were shot in west London and on location in East Sussex.
