BEREA, Ohio -- It began with almost a whisper and ended with stiff smiles. The Cleveland Browns introduced Deshaun Watson in a 38-minute news conference Friday afternoon, trying to explain their discussions and decision about the player who they are now paying $230 million as their franchise quarterback.
General manager Andrew Berry and the football office started looking at quarterback options five months ago, and ownership and coach Kevin Stefanski were looped in after the season, according to the Browns’ timeline.
