“What I wanted simply didn’t exist,” says Jamie Hunter of choosing to design her own dress – which she wore with her mother’s wedding veil – for her big day in Italy. “So I went right to work.”
attire. Jamie wore her favorite daisy gown from Rosie Assoulin’s fall 2020 collection. “It took over a week to apply all of the silk daises on the skirt of the gown,” she says. “I did a high bun and ’60s winged eyeliner to finish off the look.”
For her wedding day look, Jamie had a plan – and it didn’t involve wedding dress shopping or trying on a single gown. Instead, she wanted to make her own. “What I wanted simply didn’t exist,” she says. “So I went right to work.” She was inspired equally by a decades-oldcouture gown and a Rosie Assoulin silhouette from a few years prior. “Rosie gave me her blessing to draw inspiration from it and run with it,” the bride says.
The day of the wedding, the forecast predicted more rain, so the couple moved up the time of their ceremony in the hopes that they could still wed at the highest point of Mezzatorre, against the backdrop of the Gulf of Naples and its cypress trees. “Luckily, it was bright and sunny as guests settled into their seats while songs by Piero Umiliani played,” Jamie recalls.
After the service, the newlyweds sneaked away to take some photos and enjoy a few minutes alone before rejoining the party. “Our guests were brought down to the piazza where they were served Vivanterre Pet-Nat and orange wine, which was gifted to us from Rosie and Max Assoulin, before moving to the aperitivo area where they enjoyed fritto misto, fiore di zucca, and local delicacies such as zizzona di battipaglia, a giant mozzarella.
