The Bay's Marsha Thomason on how things have changed for Jenn and series 4's big reveal
DS Jenn Townsend is confronting yet another tragedy in series four; the Metcalf family's home has been engulfed by a fire, causing the death of a mother of four, and the suspicion is that it was a deliberate arson attack.'s central mystery once again teases us with a head-scratching whodunnit but, as always, there's plenty more to unpack thanks to the show's returning characters.
And Jenn puts up with it for as long as she can... She's definitely a diplomat, is our Jenn. It was a lot of fun to play. And the thing is, the kind of work that these characters do, it does have to be front and centre... And so he dropped the ball at home, and ultimately she gave him ultimatum after ultimatum and he just kept putting work first.
And it's clear that that trust is back [this time], she's back to being herself. She's found herself again. Also she isn't new any more, and she really is part of the team. Even Clarkie is her mate now, and they were kind of adversaries last series. Well here's the thing, when people are exposed.... you know, he called me the 'woke brigade' last [series] which, you know, woke these days, that's a euphemism actually.
