If there’s anything you can count on happening at Christmas, it’s people battling over the last chocolate in the tin…
It’s a tale as old as time. As the end of the year inches closer, families, friends, partners and colleagues all over the country will battle it out amongst each other to ensure they don’t end up with the last Bounty or the Toffee Penny in the festive chocolate tin.
READ MORE: Winter market to be held under Manchester arches with craft beer bar and Christmas tree shop Quality Street The OG in terms of Christmas tins, Quality Street has been around since 1936 - and we’re only a few years away from a very important milestone. Last year, Quality Street announced it was ditching the plastic and foil packaging for each of its miniature chocolates in favour of a vegetable-based wax wrapping and it’s something they’re sticking to this year too.
In this tub, there were seven Toffee Fingers and five Toffee Pennies - accounting for around 18% of the chocolates. These are perhaps the two most controversial flavours found in a tin of Quality Street because, let’s be honest, they’re usually the ones left 'til the end. They may even make it to New Year depending on how favoured they are.
Quite frankly, it's frustrating and we felt fobbed off. While there could be the argument that by having two regular sized bars, we are getting more than we would normally, it makes debates over who gets one of the regular bars really difficult - especially when people refuse to share. There’s the Golden Barrel, the Hazel Whirl, the Strawberry Dream and another Dairy Milk Chunk thrown in for good measure.
