Warner Bros. has paused the release of TheBatman in Russia, following the invasion of Ukraine. '...We will continue to monitor the situation as it evolves. We hope for a swift and peaceful resolution to this tragedy.”

The highly anticipated release of The Batman will be paused in Russia following the country's invasion of Ukraine. The next installment of the Batman franchise is being released in U.S. theaters on March 4, 2022. The film is directed by Matt Reeves and will feature Robert Pattinson as Batman/Bruce Wayne and Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman.

On February 24, 2022, Russia launched an invasion of Ukraine, which included missile strikes from Russia that hit several cities across Ukraine, including its capital, Kyiv. Disney recently announced that it is pausing all of its theatrical releases in Russia, including Pixar's latest film, Turning Red, due to the attacks in Ukraine. Reeves' The Batman was set to premiere in Russia on March 3, 2022, but like Disney, Warner Bros.' plans for the film's release have changed.

"In light of the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, WarnerMedia is pausing the release of its feature film, The Batman in Russia. We will continue to monitor the situation as it evolves. We hope for a swift and peaceful resolution to this tragedy." Due to its cast featuring several A-list actors, the loyal fanbase of the Batman comics, and a new director, Reeves, entering the franchise, The Batman is a highly anticipated film. In theaters across the United States, there are tickets available for pre-order, and the film is expected to bring in around $115 million to the box office.

Another reason beyond the top notch cast that has movie goers excited about the film is its notably dark aesthetic and foreboding plot. Part of the filming for The Batman took place in London, and from the trailer, some of that city's characteristic gloom and rain will make it into Gotham as well. When or if Russians will ever see this next installment of the perpetually distraught Gotham is another question. Warner Bros.
