The Batman actor Colin Farrell has revealed that his son was horrified the first time he saw the actor in his Penguin make-up. The Batman, which is to be released on March 4, is the latest iteration of the classic DC character, and will also be the first depiction of Batman outside of the DCEU since Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises.
The Penguin, or Oswald Cobblepot, is a character who has been reimagined several times for live-acton adaptation. Typically, the character is portrayed as somewhat deformed, causing him to look a bit like a penguin. Over the years, the Penguin's look has varied in intensity between each actor who has taken on the role.

It seems that Farrell's son was not the only one taken aback by the makeup effects, as Farrell himself has admitted that he found the look unnerving. According to the actor, he found the look most unsettling when he would look at himself in the mirror and speak to himself in his own accent, as he saw very little of himself in the Penguin.
With Farrell's appearance being able to affect both his son and himself in such an unsettling way, The Batman's Penguin promises to be a deliciously uncomfortable experience for all moviegoers. This, of course, is somewhat of a tradition for the character, and it seems only fair that newer 21st century Batman fans are treated to something akin to DeVito's nightmare-inducing look from 1992.
