The Cold War era underground bunker is a reminder of how close we came to the brink
For anyone born in the last 30 years, it's difficult to understand the fears surrounding nuclear war people experienced, even into the 1980s. At one time, public information broadcasts on what to do in the event of a nuclear attack were common, with children aware of the serious conversations surrounding the possibility of nuclear war.
Built to a standard design, the underground posts were built with a shaft leading down to a monitoring room with a toilet/store. Part of the country's civil defence, they were built at a time when there was very real fear of a nuclear war.Join our WhatsApp Top Stories and, Breaking News group by clicking this link
