The 2023 BMW XM shows huge power on a dyno.
. That car produced astonishing numbers, creating more power at the wheels than BMW claims the car makes at the crank. The XM is not quite as exceptional, but the 615 hp and 569 lb-ft of torque at the wheels in this test still suggest that BMW is again under-rating the output of the hybrid drivetrain. At a 15% drivetrain loss, that comes out to 707 hp and 615 lb-ft of torque.
The XM's status as a performance-oriented hybrid does skew these results, as the IND Distribution team was not certain exactly when and how much of the car's additional electric assistance contributed to this final number. As the car was in a dyno mode and was not fully charged, it is unclear to the testing team if the electric motors were contributing their peak output or if they had more to give.
