At the start of the new financial year in April, dozens of policy changes will take effect which will see parents better off
In less than three weeks at the start of the new financial year in April, dozens of new policies come into force which will see families better off. Many of these policies were announced by the Chancellor in his spring Budget – including an extension of the Household Support Fund and a decrease in National Insurance .While some – for example a rollout of free childcare for two year olds – were announced by Jeremy Hunt last November .
This follows an existing 2% cut which Mr Hunt announced in the Autumn Statement that came into action from the beginning of the year. Announcing the change, Mr Hunt said: 'Today, because of the progress we have made with inflation, from April 6 employee national Insurance will be cut by another 2%, from 10 to 8%. 'It means an additional £450 a year for the average employee or £350 for someone self-employed.
