The brutal confrontation happened at Saturday’s game between Texas Southern University and Jackson State University, two historically black colleges in the south.
Texas Southern and Jackson State are football conference rivals in the Southwestern Athletic Conference. Jackson State managed a narrow victory on Saturday, with a score of 21-19. It is not the first instance of violence during a school band’s performance at a football game this year. In September, a high school band director was tasered and arrested after he refused to stop conducting his band after the end of a football game.
