Texas Legislature looks to boost funding for alternatives to abortion even with most abortions illegal

Critics say the program is a waste of taxpayer money with hardly any oversight or evidence that it actually deters women from having abortions or helps them access long-term assistance such as Medicaid and food stamps. She said supporters of the program insists they are helping women in need, but Davis said they lack metrics to prove it.
