Texas and Oklahoma won’t suffer the $160 million impact that was originally expected for the two universities’ move to the SEC next year, according to a USA...
reported that $80 million of that is cash the schools won’t get during the 2024-25 season, a year removed from the move to the SEC. The rest Is based on cuts to full revenue shares for 2023-24 that Oklahoma‚Texas and the rest of the Big 12’s members will take to promised financial payments to the four new schools: BYU, Central Florida, Cincinnati and Houston.
Texas and Oklahoma have also had no cash withheld by the Big 12, and won’t in 2023-24, despite the conference’s bylaws calling for withholding of two years’ worth of the two schools’ shares of conference revenue.wrote: “The shares — for OU, UT and the eight continuing schools — are being reduced by roughly $7 million per school compared to what they received in 2022-23 to fund payments of $18 million apiece for this year to the new members: Brigham Young, Central Florida, Cincinnati and Houston.
