Oilman Walter Fondren built the initial beaux arts mansion 100 years ago, though it's since been added to and improved upon. Named for the inn and restaurant in the South of France, most similarities stop there. Sure, the two properties have art in common. While the French counterpart is open and airy, Houston's rendition is decidedly moody and more intimate.
