'We want to reiterate that this conversation does not align with our core beliefs and is not a reflection of our district or our culture at Bohls Middle School,' said Superintendent Douglas Killian in a statement.
The teacher, who worked in the northern Austin suburb of Pflugerville, has not been publicly identified by officials.
The Bohls Middle School teacher, drew outrage from parents and community members over a statement, captured by students on video, that he was"ethnocentric," which meant he thought his"race is the superior one," after the videos were shared on social media Friday.by Pflugerville schools but did not say whether the educator had been fired or had resigned. The district is looking for a replacement.
When students continued to ask the teacher if he was a racist, he said,"I think everybody's a racist at that level." The students reacted with shock and frustration, and a few students told the teacher they no longer respected him, according to the videos.
