“We’re still in the Big 12,” he told the gathering of about 150 fans. “I know everybody wants to talk about the SEC and 2024 and what our schedule looks like in ’24 … that’s ’24. We’re in 2023 and we’re in the Big 12. And last time I checked, the year we left the Southwest Conference we won a conference championship.”UT won the final SWC title in December 1995 before joining the Big 12 in the summer of 1996.
“But we’ve got a time here to do something pretty special, and we want to make sure we’re exhausting all of our energy into that, and not worried about what’s down the road.” Who will start at quarterback for the Longhorns when they host Rice in Austin on Sept. 2 and then play at Alabama on Sept. 9?
