examined teacher retirement plans in all 50 states plus the District of Columbia. It compared the structure of each state’s plans and then ranked them based on how well they serve those who teach for less than 10 years, those with 10 to 20 years of teaching experience, and those who spend their entire careers in the classroom.
The study argues that pension benefits are one of the factors that prospective teachers seriously consider when weighing where they want to take a job or whether to work in education at all.
