The Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex had more than double the average job gain in 2022 compared with pre-pandemic years., and twice the number of new jobs compared to its historical average, according to a new report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics published this week.
Economist Ray Perryman, president and CEO of the Waco-based Perryman Group, said all this points to 2022 having been a historically remarkable year for Texas. “The entire country is only up about 1.2 million , so on a net basis, if you look from the month before the pandemic to today, 60% of all the jobs created in the country have been in Texas,” he said. “I’ve looked at a lot of numbers in my life, and that was pretty remarkable.”
