Tesco shoppers have been praising the retailer and their 'white envelope' scheme which has now been placed in every single one of their UK stores - including in Glasgow and other areas of Scotland.
According to a 2022 Action Aid survey, around one in eight women in the UK struggle with period poverty. And almost a year later, this number is expected to rise due to the cost of living crisis, reports MEN.The reminder comes as shoppers have spotted signs placed in supermarket toilets with the signs reading: "To combat period poverty, Tesco want to ensure everyone has access to sanitary products.
On Twitter, one user questioned whether or not the scheme is legitimate asking: "Is this true about asking for a "White envelope" For Sanitary products?" Posting on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group, another shopper shared a picture of one of the signs in her local Tesco supermarket writing: "Not necessarily a bargain, because period products should be free anyway But I saw this on the back of the toilet door in Tesco."
