A man was arrested in connection with a fire that saw a terraced house completely ravaged by the blaze.
Merseyside Police confirmed officers arrested a 19-year-old man from Liverpool at the scene. He was arrested on suspicion of arson, resisting arrest and criminal damage. In an update at around 6pm, Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service told the ECHO: "Crews arrived to find a two storey brick built mid terrace house with a fire in the front bedroom. Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the property to fight the fire with two hose reel jets. Residents on Rathbone Road told the ECHO that people living in homes next to the affected property had to be evacuated. A cordon was put in place on the road which surrounded a number of homes. Rathbone Road was closed for pedestrians and drivers, but residents within the cordon appeared to be able to move around freely.
