Cody Chitty's problems began when he moved to Lancashire
Cody Chitty, now 20, also took the power tool to bunting and a wall in the amusement arcade before it became tangled in the décor and brought the game to a halt. The offence, in August 2023, was the most recent in a string of crimes committed by Chitty, of Brackenbury Road, Preston.
As Mr Shoesmith walked away, Chitty jogged towards him, with a branch from a tree, and pointed it at Mr Shoesmith. He told him to hand over his money and glasses, and tugged Mr Shoesmith's watch from his wrist. However when the bunting fell and tangled in the power tool, the game was up and the girls reported Chitty to security. He pleaded guilty to possession of a bladed article and criminal damage and was remanded in custody.
"I thought the same about the watch. I'm not going to sit there and blame it all on that . It's my responsibility. I don't blame it on that but it does impact my mental health."
